PHILOSOPHY

We grew up obsessing about and refurbishing antique and vintage luxury items in the basement of our father’s antique shop on Western Avenue in Hollywood. We learned from our grandfather, who made custom men’s suits by hand in the back of his Haberdashery on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit. We have watched, with disdain, as small runs have become mass-production, as domestic artisan craftsmanship morphed into an outsourcing free-for-all, as style went from true to garish, and as quality gradually ceased to be discussed. We remember when luxury goods grew richer and more luxurious with time and use, and when spending extra for something special meant you were buying something that would last forever.
Instead of watching things go in the wrong direction, we are helping them come back to truth. Our leather goods are of the highest quality in the world, bar-none. After tanning, each hide is meticulously selected and hand-cut for each individual item. Just as no two hides are the same, no two Parabellum products are exactly alike; while all are exquisite, each one is unique. We make all of our products by hand, in Los Angeles. No expense is spared, and absolutely no defects are accepted. All leather is hand-skived, all corners are hand-turned, and each and every item is individually numbered for identification and authenticity.
We believe that our Free Range Bison is the richest, softest, most complicated and most beautiful leather in the world. It is tanned in small batches, using old world techniques by true American Artisans. We use natural-tone; vegetable tanned Lamb Skin Linings to compliment the complex beauty of our Bison. All of our leather goods are internally lined with Kevlar for strength and durability. Most Parabellum products include laser-etched, Military Grade Ceramic hardware to perfectly contrast our leather, and to set our products on a level of true technological sophistication. And, as a nod to the past, we are proud to introduce hand-made Copper hardware that deepens and darkens with age and use, guaranteeing a special, individual patina to each and every item.
There was a time, not so long ago , when a man could buy a belt of such high quality that it would last a lifetime and be passed down to his children. We believe that time has finally returned.
MATERIALS

Deep Texture, Free Range Bison – Our products are primarily crafted from a very special type of Buffalo which is indigenous to North America; the American Bison. Long Fabled for its beauty, strength and ferocity, the American Bison is the quintessential representation of the relentless spirit and unbridled freedom of the American West. In one of the worst chapters in American history, the North American Bison herd was at the edge of extinction by the end of the 1800’s. But, after a massive effort by idealistic ranchers and conservationists, and decades of responsible herd management, the North American Bison has rebounded in the most dramatic way, and currently numbers about 500,000 animals strong. Unlike cattle, Bison must be raised in a Free Range environment, and because they are naturally so strong and resilient, they are not given growth hormones or antibiotics. Bison meat is lower in fat than Salmon or Skinless Chicken Breast, and knowledge of the health and philosophical benefits of Bison over Beef have been spreading rapidly over the last decade. The more Bison consumed leads to more Bison ranches coming into existence, and thus growth in the population of these beautiful creatures. The Bison meat industry is responsible for the massive growth of the Bison herd, and also for the availability of the hides that we honorably use in our products. We ascribe to a basic Native American concept that has been in effect for thousands of years; honor the Bison in both life and death.
Our leather comes from Free Range American Bison ranches, where the animals live organically, wander free and are humanely treated throughout their lives. Each hide is carefully selected, and treated in small batches by our family run micro-tannery, using age-old techniques that allow its elegant natural feel and luxurious texture to radiate.

Military Grade Ceramic – The most significant advances in materials science over the last few decades have come in the realm of ceramics. Military Grade Ceramics are some of the hardest man-made substances in the world, and they are used for extremely rugged applications such as anti-ballistic plating for vehicles, cutting blades for metal and concrete, and thermal-resistant tiles for the space shuttle. Our Military Grade Ceramics possess unrivaled strength, and are unquestionably beautiful in both form and function. We are proudly the only Leather goods company in the world to make our hardware out of Ceramic, including fasteners and Belt Buckles.

Hand Made Copper – The history of Copper is the history of human progress. 8,000 years ago Sumerians invented metallurgy by forging both swords and plowshares, in addition to tools and helmets, out of Copper. It was of such importance that they named the Euphrates River 'Urudu,' which literally means Copper River. Our Copper hardware is proudly hand-crafted in America through a grueling 9 step process which includes single use molds and hand polishing. Because of the difficulties in working with this ancient metal, there are very few Copper artisans left in any part of the world, not to mention right here in America. And, we are proud to offer Copper hardware on most of our items. As the Copper ages and adapts to its user, its natural hues will darken and become more beautiful with time.

Kevlar – The first generation of Kevlar was developed by Dupont Labratories in the 1960’s for extreme strength and abrasion resistance. While it feels like fabric, it has the strength of an industrial grade solid. It is 5 times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis. Kevlar is so strong that state of the art anti-ballistic vests use 28 layers of it to stop a 9mm bullet. We use Kevlar internal linings to vastly increase the life-span and durability of our products, including a strip down the middle of every Parabellum belt.
